Maison d'édition américaine née en 1945 de la fusion de trois petits éditeurs de comics des années 30 : National Allied Publications, Detective Comics, et All-American Publications. DC signifie Detective Comics.Parmi les innombrables personnages et séries publiées au fil du temps, il est impossible de ne pas nommer Superman, Batman, Flash, Wonder Woman, The Justice League of America, Green Lantern, Aquaman, Atom, Doom Patrol, Sandman, Shazam (récupéré à l'issue d'un procès pour plagiat), Suicide Squad et The Teen Titans.En France, les comics DC ont été traduits essentiellement par Artima/Arédit et Sagédition, avant d'être repris par Panini Comics, filiale française de Marvel Comics
